Sutivan is located on the north-western coast of the Island of Brac –  7 km away from the Supetar ferry port, and 13 km by sea from Split.

A small picturesque locality with a Mediterranean atmosphere and beautiful pebbly beaches that stretch towards the west and a tame hinterland crisscrossed with a multitude of paths. Numerous cultural monuments, various events and sports activities make it a good choice for sports and cultural tourism, and an active holiday.

Cultural heritage

      The historical centre of Sutivan Sutivan is a valuable monumental entity and as such is protected by the laws of the Republic of Croatia as a cultural monument. A stroll through the centre of the locality leads us along an historical path mixed with the present day and is an exceptional experience.

THE CHURCH OF ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST
       In the east part of Sutivan, around the today’s small church of St, John, the base of the big basilica with trefoil sanctuary and entrance hall, nartex has been excavated. There was situated on the the ten early christian Brac’s basilicas from 6th century. That is one of only three churches of this type excavated in Dalmatia. Several fragments of the altar mess and pillars were found, and are being kept in this small church.

        In the season Sutivan abounds with interesting, entertaining and varied events which successfully combine traditional customs, modern trends, sport, art and culture, and all this is spiced up with people always ready for fun and the preserved atmosphere of this authentic Mediterranean island locality.

The most attractive and internationally recognised event is without a doubt the sports festival Vanka Regule which has for years attracted great media attention and an increasing number of participants and observers. The week of this festival is definitely the craziest week which you can experience in Sutivan, with all day events and competitions, all night entertainment and partying .
